Implementation of Nagios in a hosting company

Our client was looking for a complete network monitoring solution in order to survey their customers servers, as well as their internal servers. The deployed solution was not only to detect one server or defective element within a network but also a business critical service or resource which might become exhausted (e.g. the crashing of an HTTP server or a disc being filled at 100% capacity).

In addition, the solution was to make it possible to produce graphs showing, over the long term, the evolution of resources, as well as the availability of the services. This was required to show that the services provided were within the framework of the SLA defined with their customers.

Finally, the solution needed to have high availability in order to monitor the state of the network continuously.

Requirements:

Déterminer les composants logiciels les plus adaptés pour répondre à leurs besoins.

Solution:

- 3 day study to analyse the environment, design a solution model and to compile a recomendation.
- Installation and integration of the most appropriate solution deploying Nagios, NagiosGrapher, Postfix and SendXMS in a high availability VMware environment.
