Drupal Platform for UN OCHA

The site's objective is to facilitate the data files 'datasets' exchanges and downloading between humanitarian organizations, and increase their effectiveness. The site was developed quickly to provide an interim solution to allow OCHA to fulfill its mission to Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC).

Challenge:

This project had a local and a global challenge.
Indeed, for each country, it required to provide the metadata classified by topic on the website, and to allow users to easily publish data via a simplified form.
At the global level, a place where users can exchange such as a forum, and build home pages like Dashboard, as well as the availability of national data by all members was required.

Therefore, Drupal was the only solution sufficiently modular to meet these requirements, in the time allotted for the project.

"Through a partnership with ICT4Peace, UN OCHA had a brief window of opportunity to build a content management system for sharing managing key datasets that are used in large scale humanitarian emergencies.
We were very fortunate that Linalis had a Drupal developer available to work in our office almost immediately. During three intense weeks, the site was successfully developed, tested, and deployed.  The working relationship with Linalis allowed us to quickly identify and solve problems that arose during this fast turnaround project, and we have been very happy with the final result."
