Implementation of Nagios in a hosting company
Our client wanted to install a network monitoring solution in order to monitor their client's servers as well as their own servers. The solution that will be deployed had to be able to detect not only a faulty server or network device, but also an unavailable service or an overloaded resource (e.g. an HTTP server crash or a 100% full harddisk).
Challenge:
The solution had to produce graphes showing, on the long term, the evolution of resources, as well as services' availabiliy. This to demonstrate their services are matching the SLA (Service Level Agreement) agreed upon with their clients.
Lastly, the solution had to have high availability in order to know the network status.
Role of Linalis:
- 3 day study to analyse the environment, design a solution model and to compile a recomendation.
- Installation and integration of the most appropriate solution deploying Nagios, NagiosGrapher, Postfix and SendXMS in a high availability VMware environment.
