Business Intelligence

Business Intelligence defines a set of technologies enabling exploitation of business data to optimize the decision-making process.

The five main steps of Business Intelligence

  • Data extraction. An ETL (Extract, Tramsform, Load) tool fetches data and consolidates it in a centralized database (a datawarehouse). This data comes from the business information system (CRM, ERP) or from external applications (Reuters, Bloomberg).
  • Analysis. Data is then formatted to allow analysts to study it (as OLAP cubes for instance).
  • Reporting. Reporting allows modeling and displaying useful information to decision makers as reports.
  • Dashboards. Generate graphical key performance indicators in order to get a synthetic overview of data.
  • Data Mining.  Deeply analyzes data in order to discover relevant information through patterns.

Business Intelligence solutions centralize all types of data (from simple to complex), to facilitate data updates by users and to optimize real time company management via editing dashboards and reporting.
